The TJGT Prestonwood CC Back to School Classic was played August 17th– 18th, 2015 at Prestonwood Country Club- Hills Course. This 36-hole nationally-ranked event had 64 players in the field with the Boys 15-18 played 6,432 yards; the Boys 11-14 played 6,000 yards; and all Girls 11-18 played 5,523 yards.
Event Recap:
Round 1: Day 1 was a shotgun start, and the weather was hot as usual for an August day in Dallas. Prestonwood Hills CC was in great condition with fantastic bent grass greens. The tournament sizzled with two under par scores and two even par 72 scores. Sydney Garber of Fate, TX shot a 78 opening round to build a 7-stroke lead after day 1. Brandon McKelvey of Southlake opened with a 69 for a two-stroke lead.
Round 2: Day 2 got very competitive and finished with two playoffs. Brandon McKelvey of Southlake won the Boys 15-18 Division with a stellar 69-74. Parker Beaty of Odessa shot a great second day score of 71 to finish at 146 to finish 2 strokes out of first. Kolton Baber of Devol, OK also shot a 146 with a 71-75 to tie for second place. Parker Beaty won the second place playoff on the first hole over Kolton. The boys ended up with 3 scores under par and 3 even par 72’s for the tournament. In the 11-14 year old division for the boys, Danny Chen of Richardson (2019) won with a 77-78. He won by 7 strokes. Mateo Trevino of Plano shot a second day 77 for second place after a first day 85. Vincent Malrone won third place with an 83-89. In the girls divisions Riley McDole of Southlake won the 11-14 division with a 92-84. The Girls 11-18 division was won by Sydney Garber of Fate, TX (2017) who shot a 78-77 to win by 7 strokes. Carly Pachuta of Prosper (2016) shot a 85-77 for second place. The third place playoff was won by Joann Chung who beat Breanna Smith. Both shot 163 to tie for third place.
