TJGT Gleannloch Pines Junior Championship

August 22-23, 2015

Event Recap
Glennloch Pines hosted the TJGT Glennloch Pines Shootout. On a weekend that marks the final weekend of freedom from school and homework for most of the kids, only the brief specter of rain and lightning could deter the final moments of fresh air and unfettered freedom of choice for the TJGT golfers.

After a rain soaked week, lightning struck down after the initial few holes of play Saturday causing a slight delay and a pressing need to out pace the lurking sunset times. The kids did their jobs, played quickly and efficiently.

Sky Sudberry wore out her Driver, 3W chip and putt game plan en route to a solid 2 day total of 170 and total victory in the girls 11-14 division. Rachel Hardy left the girls 15-18 field in her wake as she cleared her nearest opponent by 8 strokes. Rachel has steadily increased her performance on the TJGT over the years and after he senior year this fall and spring will attend Georgia Southern as they look to build a strong Girls unit.

Gracie Aday narrowly clipped Gigi Hawley for 2nd place in the girls 15-18 division. It doesn’t matter how many time a coach can say it or how many times the kids hear it, 1 shot can make the world of difference. Grind them all up. They are all worth the same and 1 stroke can come back to haunt you.

The Spaulding twins rocked out the boys 11-14 division with Andrew securing 1st and Matthew taking 2nd. Jace Benoit of Sulphur finished 3rd.

Cypress TX’s Nickolas Martinez rode his 1st round score of 71 to a 2nd round 75 and an eventual 1 stroke victory over another Houston star Grant Lincecum…….did somebody say something about 1 shot. Ryan Bailey of Humble placed 3rd.

Happy 1st day of school everybody!!!
