The Trophy Club Galleria Classic commenced in the dark today with an impressive showing from the young competitors. The boys and girls played 36 holes on the Hogan course in temperatures around the mid 60s. The Boys 15-18 played from 6,809 yards and the girls 11-18 played from 5,599 yds. The younger boys competed from 6,505 yds. College coaches were in attendance as usual with the Oklahoma Baptist coach making a notable appearance.
In the Boys 15-18 Division, Franssico Osio (2018) of Fort Worth, Tx held on to his lead from day one after firing an impressive even par 72. Osio closed the second day with a 74 and total of 146 which left him in a tie with Austin Kim (2016) from Plano, Tx. Osio bested Kim in a playoff to take home the championship trophy. Nicholas Shapiro (2016) from Plano, Tx played with consistency posting two 74’s and claimed third place.
The Girls 15-18 Division Kennedy Pedigo (2017) of Fort Worth, Tx swept the field with a 10 stroke victory. Pedigo posted back to back 74s to claim the top honors. Alexis Read (2016) of Bridgeport, Tx finished behind Pedio in second place posting a two day total of 158 (81, 77). Young Haley Vargas of Lubbock, Tx posed a sub-80 round today of 79 and claimed third place with a two day total of 159.
In the Boys 11-14 Division, Eli Tran (2021) of Lubbock, Tx held a commanding lead and claimed first with a two day total of 151. Dawson Meek all the way from Ozark, Mo (2021) finished in second place with 162. Alex Kopenhaver rounded out the top three
Finishing out the competition were the young ladies in the 11-14 Division. Mackenzie Moore (2021) captured first place with a 159 in her hometown of Trophy Club, Tx. Gabbi Betancourt of Frisco, Tx took home second place with a two day total of 163. Brooke Morales of McKinney, Tx finished in third place with 171.
