Former TJGT player Martin Piller picked up his second Web.com Tour victory of the season Sunday in Overland Park, Kan., and he did it in record fashion, winning the Digital Ally Open with a tournament-record 26-under 258.
Piller closed with a 6-under 65 at Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate to win by four shots over Darron Stiles. Piller broke the previous 72-hole scoring record of 21-under 263 set by James Nitties in 2011.
The victory moves Piller, who won last month’s Albertsons Boise Open, from fifth to second on the Web.com Tour money list. He is already guaranteed to be among the 25 players who earn their PGA Tour card for next season via the money list.
