Sarah Zwartynski was born on January 29, 1989 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Mark and Maritta Zwartynski. The family later relocated to Allen, Texas and Sarah began a budding golf career at the age of eight alongside her sister Andrea Zwartynski. Andrea would go on to play golf at the University of San Francisco and later Houston Baptist University.
Sarah quickly rose to become one of the most heavily recruited junior golfers in the state of Texas. At the close of her junior career, Zwartynski was ranked 22nd nationally.
Zwartynski was a four year letterwinner at Allen H.S. and the District Champion in 2007. Zwartynski was also named her district’s MVP three out of her four years of high school golf. Sarah did not solely play in high school tournaments. She was a familiar face on both the TJGT and the AJGA circuits. Zwartynski claimed numerous TJGT titles and ranked as the number one girls player in the TJGT’s standings after two TJGT victories in 2007.
In 2005, Zwartynski captured the Ping Junior Championship title at The Woodlands Panther Trail. This strategic win would place her on collegiate watch lists all over the country. She was recruited by Texas, Texas Tech, Arizona, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, but eventually chose to accept a scholarship at Texas A&M University in College Station.
Zwartynski placed a crucial role in the Texas A&M’s success during her competitive years. As a Freshman (2007-2008), she earned honorable mention All-America honors from Golfweek, was named to the All-Big 12 team, appeared in all eleven team tournaments and even tied for 23rd at the NCAA Division One Championships — it was the highest finish from a freshman in school history.
During her sophomore year (2008-2009), Zwartynski once again competed in all 10 of the Aggies tournaments. She led the team with a 75.31 stroke average and was named to the All-Big 12 team for the second year in a row. In her junior year (2009-2010), she lowered her stroke average to a 73.67. Her highlight during this season was a victory at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. She also finished 5th at the 2010 Big 12 Championship which helped lead the team to a well-deserved victory.
In the summer of 2010, Sarah claimed the Texas Golf Association’s Texas Amateur title. An impressive win to add to her resume. (Win pictured above – Credit: Texas Golf Association).
As a Senior (2010-2011), Zwartynski closed her successful collegiate career with three top 10 finishes and five top 25 finishes. She finished 6th place in both the Alamo Invitational and Big 12 Championship respectively. In her final appearance at the NCAA Division One Championship Zwartynski finished in 55th place.
Sarah put her business degree to use after graduation from Texas A&M. She currently works as an Account Manager for Triton Durable Medical Equipment, LLC in her hometown of Allen, Texas.
