The TJGT Cottonwood Creek Championship was played October 24th-25th, 2014 at Cottonwood Creek Golf Club in Waco, Texas.

With a typical day of extreme wind at the UIL Region II-6A Golf Tournament site of Waco’s Cottonwood Creek Golf Course, the TJGT Cottonwood Tournament was an exciting tournament and a great preview of this spring’s Region II-6A Tournament. The Cottonwood TJGT Tournament ended up having players from all over the state of Texas and Louisiana as it is a great central location for players to come to for competition against statewide players.
In the Girls 11-14 Division, it was a battle between two freshmen from The Woodlands High School. Hana Bowman edged out her Highlander teammate for the Championship with an 83-84 to seize the win. Capturing the runner-up trophy close behind her was Kenlie Barrett with an 85-86 score. In the Girls 15-18 Year old division, Madison Smith (Class of 2016) from Belton, TX shot a 79-81 (160 total) to win first place by six strokes. The Runner-Up trophy went to Alexis Szewczyk of McKinney, Texas (Class of 2017). Alexis shot an 82-84 for a 166 total. Capturing 3rd Place was Hayden Brewer of Frisco, TX (Class of 2017) with an 86-87 for a 173 total. Congratulations to the Waco winners Madison Smith and Hana Bowman!
The Boys 11-14 Division started the final day with first day close scores of 78, 79, 80, 80, and 82 to create an exciting atmosphere. Thomas Bockholt came out on top at the end with another 78 to shoot 156 after leading day one by a stroke. Thomas is a 2019 graduate from Austin, Texas who held off some tough competition down the stretch. Dallas Hankamer from Temple, Texas (Class of 2021) ended up just two strokes back with a 78-80 (158 total) to win second place. Winning 3rd place was Ethan Shaff (Class of 2019) of Plano, Texas as he shot 79-79. The three young men were all within two strokes of each other throughout the tournament. In the Boys 15-18 Division, Davis Farnell (Class of 2015 from Burleson, Texas) shot under par for the tournament. Davis shot an opening round 68 (4 under par) and a closing round of 74 to finish the tournament at 142 for a 2-under par tournament! Davis won by 8 strokes with an outstanding performance on a very windy day on a hard golf course. Finishing as Runner-UP was Justin Thompson of Dallas, Texas with solid scores of 76-74. Justin is a class of 2017 graduate. With another 150 score, Max Harmon (Class of 2016) from Waco, Texas shot a one-under 71 on day one and then won the third place trophy with a second day score of 79. It was a great tournament for those trying to get experience on the Region II-6A Tournament golf course and play against statewide competition.
