Lost Pines, Texas — December 10th & 11th – The annual Wolfdancer Winter Classic concluded this past weekend in Lost Pines, Texas. The tournament consisted of 43 players battling the tough, undulated layout of Wolfdancer Golf Club. The elements were not conducive for low scoring, however, there were players who braved the conditions and posted competitive scores. Sean-Karl Dobson (2021) of Austin, Texas posted a tournament low of 72 (E) during the second round, while Darby Deans (2017) of Frisco, Texas posted a low round of 73 (+1) in the girls division on the first day. The beautiful Hyatt resort venue always provides scenic backdrops for parents and spectators watching their young competitors.
The Boys 15-18 division was won by Dustin Anderson (2019) of Granbury, TX with rounds of 79, 77. Jacob Sosa (2022) of Buda, TX posted rounds of 77, 80 to claim second place and only finish one shot out of first place. Third place went to Lubbock’s Jackson Drake (2020) with back-to-back rounds of 80.
The Boys 11-14 division had two up and coming TJGT stars battle in a 4-hole playoff for first place. Sean-Karl Dobson (previously mentioned) defeated Dallas Hankamer (2021) of Temple, Tx with a birdie on #18 to close out the playoff. Dobson fired rounds of 76 and 72, while Hankamer shot 75 and 73. Their 148 total was the best in the field in any division. Closing out the Boys 11-14 division with a third place finish was J. Holland Humphries (2021) of Austin, Tx with a two-day total of 157 (80-77).
In the Girls 11-14 division, Halle Whitney (2020) of Magnolia, TX claimed the first place trophy. She finished the tournament with rounds of 82, 79 for a 161 total.
In the Girls 15-18 division, Kansas State signee Darby Deans (2017) claimed the first place trophy. Deans finished with a total of 157 after posting rounds of 73, 80. Longtime TJGT member Hanna Liu (2019) of Austin, TX finished in second place with rounds of 81, 79. Rounding out the top three was Megan Sells (2018) of San Antonio, Tx with rounds of 82, 81.
