Horseshoe Bay, Texas — June 9, 2016 – Twenty-one collegiate golfers teed it up at the Slick Rock and Apple Rock in the summer’s second Texas Collegiate Amateur Tour event. In contrast to last week’s event, the weather was perfect for The Horseshoe Bay Collegiate Championship. The mens division competed on the Slick Rock course while the women’s collegiate division competed on the Apple Rock course. In the Women’s Collegiate division on the Apple Rock class, Madeline Davis (Samford University) led the girls for the first 36 holes with a two round total of 148 (75, 73) and was clear of Maddy Rayner (University of Houston) who posted scores of 73, 76 by one heading into the final round at Apple Rock. On the men’s side during day one at Slick Rock saw 10 sub-par rounds. Hudson Ross (Dallas Baptist) fired a 65-69 for a two round total of 134 (-10)to take the first day lead three shot ahead of Taylor Grant (Mississippi State) going into the final round.
Day Two provided another beautiful day of sunny weather. On the women’s side Maddy Rayner (University of Houston) shot a 74 in her final round to take home the women’s title. While on the men’s side, Taylor Grant fired the round of the day with a 72 to capture the championship.
