[Bullard, TX | May 1-2, 2021] Chandler freshman Sydney Robertson and Montgomery sophomore Dillon Barnard became the latest to add their names to the long list of champions at the annual Tyler Rose event this past weekend by firing rounds in the low 70s each day to cruise to victories at Eagle’s Bluff Country Club.
Robertson, who won the 2020 event in August, defended her title to the tune of a 5-shot victory (71-73=144) over Seabrook’s Amelia Guo and Paragould, Ark., Madison Holmes. Robertson was 2-over-par for the tournament, despite going 4-over in her last 3 holes in the final round. She lead wire-to-wire after shooting an even-par 71 on Day 1, and came out of the gates fast in the Round 2, making 3 birdies on the front 9.
In the boys division, Barnard started the final round 1 stroke off the lead of Tyler’s Griffin Jones, but carded birdies on No. 1 and No. 6 to take the lead heading into the back 9, and essentially put the tournament away with back-to-back-birdies on No. 11 and No. 12.
Tyler sophomore Jacob Cole finished in solo second, with Southlake’s Neel Sandhu and Fort Worth’s Trip Stroube tying for third, and Frisco’s Noah Hankinson finishing tied for fifth with Jones.
