Event Recap:

The TJGT kicked off the 2015 calendar year at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Golf Course with players from Texas, Louisiana, & Mexico teeing it up right before the school year gets started again.  Weather overnight before the 1st day was wet and cold making for a very long golf course with the ball not rolling out for the players on any shots.  Early on it was cold and overcast with temperatures in the low 40s but as the players started to make the turn to the back nine the sun finally peaked out and started to warm things up for everyone.  Makena Thomas (San Antonio, TX) carded 3 birdies to take the Girls 15-18 lead overnight while Maria Jose Ramirez (Mexico) used 12 pars to card an 81 and take the Girls 11-14 lead.  In the Boys 11-14 division Harrison Hineline (Boerne, TX) and John Keefer (San Antonio, TX) shared the lead with 81’s for the day.  Zac Ciesla (Lake Charles, LA) used two birdies to take the overnight lead in the older Boys division.  John Keefer played another steady round of golf on day two as he posted a round of 82 to finish up the tournament with a 163 total to take home the Boys 11-14 title.  Highlight in the last group was Josiah Gonzalez’s eagle on #6 Creeks.  Billy Teichman posted a round of 78 to take the championship in the Boys 15-18 division.  On the Girls side Makena Thomas kept her steady play to take the championship for the Girls 15-18 while Maria Jose Ramirez backed up her opening round to take the younger Girls division.
