Will host 2 NB3JGNC Regional Qualifiers This Summer
The Texas Junior Golf Tour is proud to announce a partnership with the Notah Begay III Jr Golf National Championship, one of the first nationally televised junior golf tournaments, to be played at Koasati Pines at Coushatta in Louisiana on Nov. 15-17, 2020. This tournament will bring junior golfers from around the country and around the globe together to participate in an exclusive 3-day National Championship in front of the entire world, to be televised on the Golf Channel.
Through the partnership, the TJGT will host a Regional Qualifying tournament this August for the NB3 Championship in which eight participants will earn an automatic bid into the 1st inaugural National Championship in November. The qualifying tournament be on Aug 5-6 at Southern Oaks GC in Burleson and will be an optional add-on for any player participating in that event.
In addition, the TJGT will have 2 extra qualifying spots, given out to the champions (or highest finishers not exempt) at the 2020 LoneStar Boys and Girls Invitationals, which will be played this fall.
The NB3 Jr Golf National Championship was founded by PGA Tour winner and Stanford alumn Notah Begay III to “provide an opportunity for every junior golfer in the country to compete in a top-level Junior Golf National Championship.”
“Participants will be given an un-restricted and accessible pathway to utilize their golf skill and achieve valuable national recognition. Players will not be required to have resumes, points rankings or any other affiliations to play. Boys and Girls from across the Country simply need to have an interest in competitive golf and testing their skill at the highest level.”
The championship, played in November at Koasati Pines in Louisiana, will be a free entry tournament to all players that qualify via a Regional Qualifying tournament, and all players will receive national exposure through the broadcasting of the tournament on the Golf Channel.
“We are very excited to have the chance to partnership with Notah Begay III and this new National Championship,” said Travis Measley, TJGT executive director. “It is clear that Notah has a special passion for junior golf and has built a tournament that not only is going to provide the opportunity for hundreds of junior golfers to compete at minimal cost, but also for those junior golfers to be showcased on national television and further the importance of growing junior golf.”
All players wishing to participate in the TJGT qualifier at Southern Oaks in August may sign up at any time and choose to pay the additional NB3 Qualifier fee to have their scores considered for the qualifier. Players may opt into the qualifier at any time up until the start of the first round.
